August Newsletter

Wow! What a month July has been.

There have been lots of exciting new connections and developments happening. I’ve been exploring and figuring out how the different strands of yoga (athlete specific, outdoor and community based), coaching and massage all fit together. It seems obvious when I write it like that, but is taking time work out.

Community / Wellbeing Yoga

On the community front, I had the pleasure of delivering a couple of yoga sessions for SELFA. I’m really excited to offer more sessions for their groups after the summer break. The feedback from both the Springboard Group and Parents Meet sessions was absolutely lovely!

The Woodville Open Day was great fun and a fantastic opportunity to connect with people. I offered a couple of taster sessions to a mix of participants – some a little reluctant, others very enthusiastic. Everyone came away feeling positive which was great.

Looking ahead, I’ll be volunteering with Get Out More Forest School and hope to offer yoga and movement sessions for their Nature Natters group starting in September.

Yoga for Runners

The Oakworth Yoga for Runners class has made a steady start. It’s so nice to be teaching Yoga for Runners in person again and to be able to do this alongside the online sessions. Attendance tends to dip a bit in summer, so if you know someone who might benefit, please share or encourage them to come along. Also, if there’s anything that would make it easier for you to join, feel free to get in touch – I’d love to hear from you.

From now on, the online class will run at 7:30pm, rather than alternating between early and late slots.

Return to Running Programme

I’ve teamed up with True North Collective at Woodville to offer a 6-week programme of drills, S&C, mobility and flexibility to support runners. The statics around injury and drop-out rates for run-walk / 5k beginner programmes make for grim reading. This is because they don’t prepare the body for the strain running puts on it.

Starting on Wednesday 20th August at Woodville Community, Keighley.

Subscribe to Yoga for Runners on Patreon

There are two ways to subscribe:

Stretch & Recovery – A new 45-minute session is released every two weeks. You’ll also get access to mini classes and yoga tips.

Express Yoga – A new 15–20 minute session every week, plus access to the same mini classes and tips.

You can find both options on the Yoga for Runners Patreon Page.

Coaching

My UK Athletics CirF (Coach in Running Fitness) training is well under way now.

I’ve loved getting a regular coaching session set up with Pudsey & Bramley AC – it feels odd standing at the side and not joining in, but it’s odd in a good way. At some point these will be open sessions that others can join – if you’re local to Leeds and interested in joining, get in touch.
