Workplace Yoga

It can be hard to fit exercise in when work and life are busy. The addition of exercise or activities can feel like a stretch and as a result doing something that is meant to be a positive thing can feel like a chore . Doing yoga as part of the working day can make this a little easier.

At the last school I worked in, prior to moving away from teaching, we set aside 30 minutes on a Friday morning for a staff yoga session. It did teachers so much good to stop racing around, doing photocopying and trimming. Everything still got done and was ready for when the students arrived and there bonus was teachers felt calmer and more relaxed at the start of the day.

In May this year, I did a session for staff at Prince Henry’s Grammar School, Otley as a one-off session for their wellbeing week. It was a pleasure to be invited in to deliver a class for staff at the end of the half-term when they needed it!

These experiences have inspired me to offer workplace yoga for staff well-being.
