August Update

The summer holidays have landed. I think this means different things for different people, but for most it can be a break from routine. With that in mind I’ve tried to offer a couple of different options so you can still fit in some yoga / self-care / maintenance.

Monday Zoom classes will run weekly (apart from the bank holiday) and recordings of the sessions will be available if you can’t join on Zoom. The pre-recorded Stretch & Recovery sessions will be available on a playlist from the 1st-31st August and there’ll be an additional playlist of short 10-15 minute sessions, if you’re short on time, but keen to do something – detail of all of these and links, etc are below. We’ll be in Otley for the first Wednesday of the month too.

Monthly Otley Class

The next Otley Class is on Wednesday 7th August, 6:00-7:00pm – Otley Scout Hut, Burras Lane.

This class will work on strength/stability, mobility/range of movement and tension release. Please complete the form to sign up if you plan to come along – Sign up form or pick up the class from the YfR Store

The following session will be on Wednesday the 11th September.

Online Zoom Classes

This month’s block will run from the 29th July to the 19th August. This gives us 4 sessions before the bank holiday. I expect that a lot of people will be away over the summer or out of routine due to the school holidays – as always there’s an option to dip in and pick up individual classes rather than sign up for the month.

Please note there will not be a session on Monday 26th August.

29th July ~ Knee Health

You can’t stretch your knees, but you can make sure the muscles around them are strong enough to effectively support the them and that tightness and/or imbalances aren’t causing pain or disfunction. We’ll focus on finding the Goldilocks zone of strength, stability, mobility and flexibility in this session.

5th August ~ Full Leg Stretch & Release

An hour dedicated to tackling tightness in the legs. We’ll work from the toes to the hips – lengthening muscles and releasing tension. A great session for recovery and maintenance – It should be a good MOT as we systematically work through different muscle groups and take time to notice if there are any particularly tight areas.

12th August ~ Hips & Glutes

This session will focus on range of movement of the hips – we’ll have a mix of mobility, stretch (releasing tightness in the hip flexors, adductors and glutes) and making sure the glutes are firing.

19th August ~ Calves, Ankles & Balance

Tight calves and stiff ankles affect our knees and hips and can throw our balance off. This session start with poses to work on balance, then release tension in the lower legs and mobilise the ankles, before re-visiting the balancing poses to see the effect of the stretch and mobility work.

Summer Holiday – Quick Yoga

For the summer I have put together 7 Short (10-15 minute) sessions to do when you’re away or short on time, but still want to include a little yoga pre-hab in your week.

Stretch / Recovery Classes

Two 45-minute recorded classes to aid recovery.

These classes will be available for the whole month to do whenever you like and repeat as many times as you like. When you sign up you’ll be sent a link to a playlist that contains 2 classes.

These sessions are great as active recovery after a long run, to do during the week if you’re feeling stiff or tired, to help relieve tightness or to just relax and de-stress.

Blocks

If you’re planning on coming to a class every week or need that extra push to keep you motivated, you can pick up the classes as a block.

August – Legs Legs Legs – Zoom Block – You’ll be sent the Zoom link each week or if you can’t make it, I’ll send the link to the recording after the class. The block includes access to four 60-minute Zoom classes.

AugustClass Recordings – Legs Legs Legs Block – Recordings will be sent out each week after the zoom session and will be available for 7 days. The block includes four 60-minute sessions
