March Update

Spring has arrived – Hooray! Lighter nights, lambs and more racing are on the cards as we emerge from winter.

Whether you’re on it with training for a spring marathon, 3 peaks or another long distance challenge or just ticking over, classes will provide support for your running maintenance needs.

Our March zoom classes will all be targeted sessions, working specific areas. We’ll also have our monthly in-person Otley class – providing a nice break from looking at a screen and for those who like the convenience of picking up a video we’ll continue to have weekly recorded recovery classes and recordings of Zoom classes available every week.

Monthly Otley Class

The next Otley Class is on Wednesday 6th March, 6:00-7:00pm – Otley Scout Hut, Burras Lane.

This class will work on strength/stability, mobility/range of movement and tension release.

Online Zoom Classes

There will be 4 sessions (4th, 11th, 18th & 25th March) – You’re welcome to dip in and out or join for the full block.

Join weekly on Zoom at 6:30pm

Monday 4th March – Knees – This session will have a bit of strength work as we target the muscles that stabilise the knee. We will certainly have a good amount of stretch too – releasing tightness to ensure that there aren’t muscular imbalance pulling at the knee. Lots of attention on the quads, hammies and calves in this session.

Monday 11th March– Feet & Ankles – Often neglected, but often the source of issues and niggles. We’ll target the small muscles in the feet, work on ankle mobility & stability and do some strength & stretch on the calves.

Monday 18th March – Hips – I’m not sure whether to call this a firm favourite or a bugbear for many. We’ll tackle the glutes, quads, psoas addressing tightness that can restrict range the of movement of the hip joints and release tension to improve stride length and form.

Monday 25th March – Spine & Shoulders – I don’t think I know any runners that feel like they have strong shoulders or have good range of movement in this area. Many of us don’t pay much attention to the shoulders and back, but when these areas get stiff and rigid it can have a big impact or form and running economy.

Recordings / Recorded Classes

Class Recordings

If you can’t make the Monday zoom session or just prefer to do the class in your own time, you can pick up the recording of the class.

Stretch / Recovery Classes

Weekly recorded Stretch/Recovery classes are released on Sunday mornings and available for 7-days.

Just for ease, if you’d like to be sent the Sunday Stretch class each week and not have to faff with sign up.

There will be 4 sessions – 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th Mar.

These sessions are great as active recovery after a long run, to do during the week if you’re feeling stiff or tired or to help relieve tightness.

Blocks

If you’re planning on coming to a class every week or if you need that extra push to keep you motivated, you can pick up the classes as a block.

March Target Areas Block (Zoom) – You’ll be sent the Zoom link each week or if you can’t make it, I’ll send the link to the recording after the class. The block includes access to four 60-minute Zoom classes.

March Target Areas Block (Class Recordings) – Recordings will be sent out each week after the zoom session and will be available for 7 days. The block includes four 60-minute sessions

March Sunday Stretch Session Block – The link to recorded classes will be sent by 10am on Sunday morning and will be available for 7 days. The block includes four 45-minute sessions.

There will be 4 Recorded Stretch / Recovery sessions – 3rd, 10th, 17th & 24th Mar.

I’ve got an eye on the race calendar and folks getting stuck in to long Sunday runs in mind. Feel free to send me a message if you’re struggling with a tight spot or want to request anything to be included.

I hope to see you soon – whether you a YfR regular, every now and again or new to yoga or YfR
