Upper body – Shoulders and Back Release

This week we will focus on releasing tension in the shoulders, upper back and lower back. There’ll be a sneaky bit of strength in there too, as tension in the shoulders can often be the result postural and/or strength issues.

As runners we focus much of our time and energy on our legs, glutes and core, but it’s worth taking time to look after the top half too. Shoulders issues are often connected to hip problems and tightness or imbalances can ricochet around the body presenting as niggles nowhere near the problem area.

That said we’ll call this class #1 of 2 and follow it up with a lower body class the following week.

Just so you are aware, my movement is still a little restricted from surgery, so how I demo will be modified.
