Strength

Hi- I hope you’re well and keeping safe!

I just wanted to check in and share some things I’ve done that you might like too.  I have tried to create a class to share, but I don’t really have the right kit/setup – I’ll keep working on it and hopefully be able to get something sorted to share in the next week or so.

Today I did – Morning Stretch and Wake Up – an online class with Nichi from The Yoga Space.  I thought that would be a nice chilled gentle stretching class to ease into the day.  It was much more strength focused and a slight shock to the system, but actually really energising and gave me a real boost physically and mentally.  The link is below to give it a try – it’s tough, but nice tough, not like punishment – it also introduces a bit of animal flow which is also worth checking out.

After the class I got a recommendation to look at Matt Phippin – I tried a 30 minute hips class.  It was tough (like punishment) but brilliant. Definitely worth a try.

We often assume as runners that our issues are rooted in inflexibility, but just as often they can be the result of weakness.  I have reached for the kettlebell many times since being in lockdown and have done weights and circuits to get strength work in.  There is immense value in yoga for strength – give it a go.

Matt Phippin Link – 360 Degrees Hips (Equipment needed – block and strap – he uses 2 blocks, but you can just put a pillow under your head)

Take care
